Since I have ZERO self control, I indulged myself just a smidge during the Sephora VIB Sale. There were a few things I’d been wanting to try and this is the perfect time to try them.
Let’s start with Fenty Beauty. There’s still SO much from this line that I want to try (namely the primer, foundation and blotting powder) but for a first time haul, I picked up the Killawatt Freestyle Highlight in Lightning Dust/ Fire Crystal and the Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow. I’m starting to get back into gloss and I’ve heard great things about the Gloss Bomb. It’s a really pretty neutral nude color with a subtle shimmer. It isn’t at all sticky or gloopy and is perfect for every day worn alone or layered over a deeper color for more impact. The highlight I really like. This is a great duo for versatility. The left side is a very subtle ‘lit from within’ type of highlight. Very soft glow. The other side has more of a wet look and is very shimmery. I know Trophy Wife has been getting all the hype but I knew I wasn’t going to wear it as often as something more neutral.
A custom Make Up For Ever cheek trio has been on my list since they launched. So I added the magnetic trio palette, the highlight in H106, blush in B302 and sculpting shade S116. I’m so impressed with these powders. They’re so smooth and blendable. The sculpting shade is perfect and can be used as a bronzer as well. I find it’s similar in tone to Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer (the MUFE shade is slightly cooler). The blush is so SO pretty and has the most subtle shimmer. The gold highlight is so gorgeous as well; not at all chunky. I think the three shades compliment each other quite well. Very pleased with this purchase.
Another Make Up For Ever purchase was the Artist Eyeshadow Palette Volume 4. This is an all matte palette and was actually on sale during the sale so it was hard to pass up. I love MUFE shadows and I thought the combination of shadows included here was so unique for an all matte palette. I still need to play around with it a bit more but as of right now it feels like it needs another palette or some single shadows to add in. It doesn’t quite feel like a stand alone palette to me yet. But I still like it and can’t wait to play with it more.
The last thing I picked up was the Huda Beauty Obesessions Palette in Smokey Obsessions. I had never really been able to pull the trigger on the other larger Huda Beauty Palettes. There was always a few colors that I knew I wouldn’t use. But when these palettes were released, they were mini versions for specific looks at a much lower price point. There are Mauve, Warm and Electric versions as well but something about the Neutral Smokey called to me. The textures are beautiful and smooth. The metallics are bananas. They are SO metallic and pretty and give a real foiled effect on the eyes. The only complaint I have is that the two matte browns are VERY similar and I would have liked to see either a matte cream shade or a very light brow bone/inner corner highlight shade. Otherwise I love this and I’m very tempted to pick up the Mauve version.
What did you guys get during the sale?
